Last Spring I was listening to the radio and they did a brief interview with long time country singer Kenny Rogers. I like a few of his songs but wouldn't consider myself a big fan. At any rate he said something during that interview that jumped out at me.
It went something like this:
"The truth is you only need three things in life to be happy. One - You need someone to love. Two - You need something to do. Three - You need something to look forward to." - Kenny Rogers
I don't know that I'm completely sold, but I certainly like the simplicity of it. There's no doubt in my mind that these are at least a great starting point. Three very fundamental things that give drive and meaning to one's life.
If you're hung up in a rough patch it's probably a good thing to reflect on. Heck, that's probably true even if you're not. If you are noticing any missing pieces, you might want to think about what you can do to fill the gaps. If you're fortunate enough to have all the pieces, make sure you don't take it for granted.
